Technologies
At BTI360, we think about technical skills as continuous learning in a framework of core, breadth, and depth.
Having a framework through which we think about technology allows us to be intentional and accountable for our continuous learning. Some examples,
Many companies talk about developing their people. Our difference?
We mean it. We do it. It's the BTI360 Way!

Core skills are those expected of all BTI360 teammates. Skills like object-oriented design and development, web services in the REST style, the latest frameworks, RDBMS, etc for Software Engineers. These are the "toolbox" of modern software development. Therefore we are uncompromising in our high-bar expectations of our teammates' core skills. |

Breadth Skills are the basic understanding of a broad range of technologies, how they fit, and when one might want to use them. By constantly exposing ourselves to new technologies, we are prepared when an appropriate problem arises. You may be on a Java project but be exposed to Rails so that when a problem arises that screams Rails, you'll be able to identify it. |

Depth Skills are those technical areas where one may take their own understanding deep - well beyond what may be strictly required. Instead of being satisfied with using a framework to implement a "REST" web service, it may be deeply understanding Fielding's dissertation or the original Perry and Wolf (1992) paper on which it builds. There is an immense satisfaction to be had from a deep understanding of a topic. |
- We seek challenging work to ensure continuous honing of our core skills
- We encourage conference attendance to ensure teammates are exposed to a breadth of technologies
- We encourage training opportunities that help teammates gain depth
- We share what we know through internal Tech Talks
We mean it. We do it. It's the BTI360 Way!
